petition 2004... petition... The Queensland Ferret Welfare Society's President, Barbara Cowell, petitioned the Qld government to amend the Land Protection (Pest & Stock Route Management) Act to allow ferrets to be kept in Queensland as pets. • The QFWS obtained a total of 7989 signatures on the Paper petition which was tabled on 24th November 2004 . • The E petition which closed on 12 November obtained 530 signatures, it was tabled in Parliament 23rd November and referred to the Minister 24 November 2004. • The Minister responded to the petition on 21st December 2004. The response is able to be viewed at the Petition website, Queensland Parliament Petitions web site, once at the site just click on the reponded date 21/12/2004 The QFWS will continue to gather support, help ferrets in need, educate people with correct ferret facts and petition the government government to amend the Land Protection (Pest & Stock Route Management) Act to allow ferrets to be kept in Queensland as pets.
