our aims - past & future...|
The Queensland Ferret Welfare Society (QFWS) was formed in May 2004, to petition the Queensland Government to amend the Land Protection (Pest & Stock Route Management) Act to allow Ferrets to be kept in Queensland as pets.
Please see our Petition page for more information.
The Queensland Ferret Welfare Society's aim is to promote the good health and welfare of ferrets through education and information, and to promote responsible ownership of all pets.
The Queensland Ferret Welfare Society does not encourage individuals to purchase or keep ferrets whilst the current law applies. However, the QFWS will provide advice, assistance and support to any ferrets & their owners within Qld.
We are now working with the Government to allow seized ferrets to be evacuated rather than killed.
